This “remote control” looks to be just about perfect for an HTPC setup. With a couple of IR blasters, Girder and some fortitude… should be able to make a completely universal remote control.

These damned little bubble packs have a nearly impossible paper backing over a thin foil layer. When it’s time for a dose, it’s a frustrating 15 seconds as I attempt to remove the wrapper without cracking the shell on the gum. Without the shell, it does not give that satisfying “crunch” that I require.
Work on the packaging guys.
What’s going on with Nova? I have been watching it regularly for years. I’ll set my DVR to record it, not check it til a boring weeknight and BAM, there are 2 or 3 compelling stories. Recently they’ve aired episodes about striving to reach absolute zero and others about the Northern Passage, all of this is right up my alley.
Tonight, the new episode dealt with California’s energy policy, how Arnold wants to cut CO2 and why this is bad for the state. You find out all of this in the first 30 seconds of the show… then BAM! “This show is sponsored by Exxon Mobile.”
I guess times have been tough and I know that public broadcasting floundered under the Bush administration, but come on.
CNN is reporting that the crowd from the Obama inaguration reached over 2 million people. Pretty impressive. They have a nifty video online showing US military satellite images of the Capitol Mall in mid-December and the same area with millions of people congregated.
I knew Paul in high school… we kind of ran in the same circle of friends. This story is so cool that I just have to post about it. I doubt you will ever see this, Paul, but congrats!
This is day 5. I don’t want to jinx it, just wanted to document it. Today was a little rough. The gum started to be “boring”. Up until today, I was able to keep a piece going for a few hours… today, I was struggling to keep the same piece for 60 minutes.
I’m sure this will get pulled from Youtube shortly, but here it is in the mean time.
Well, that didn’t take too long. Youtube yanked it before I could even get home and show people… oh well. At least NBC was nice enough to finally put it up on their site for streaming.
Watch granny try and hook up her new digital tv converter box. It’s guaranteed to “bring Jack Benny back.”
Just saw this online. I already went to Father’s Office and had a decent burger… now I’d like to try a REAL burger. A little place in Chandler, AZ called “The Heart Attack Grill”.
Mmmmm, grease.
